About Me
TONYA MARTIN, PSY.D.
Hello, I’m Dr. Tonya Martin and I’m the owner/founder of Innovations Forensic & Psychological Services, PLLC. I started this practice because I’m passionate about providing culturally competent forensic evaluations to criminal courts, as well as education on mental health to the community at large.

Forensic
Psychology
One of Innovations’ core specializations is forensic psychology, the practice of assisting the courts to answer a forensic question in criminal proceedings by considering relevant aspects of a defendant’s mental health. Through her training and practice, Dr. Martin strives to provide concise and data-driven evaluations that clearly support her forensic opinion.
Serious MentalIllness
Having experience with adults (ages 18 – 70) of various racial and ethnic backgrounds in the criminal justice system and outpatient settings, Dr. Martin has seen various examples of serious mental illness and personality disorders, such as Schizophrenia, Schizoaffective Disorder, Delusional Disorder, Bipolar Disorder, Major Depressive Disorder, Antisocial Personality, and Borderline Personality Disorder among others. She also has experience with these disorders and co-occurring substance abuse and trauma-related disorders.
Child and Adolescent Mental Health
Dr. Martin has experience working with children and adolescents (ages 4 – 17) in the juvenile justice system and outpatient settings, assessing and diagnosing disorders commonly seen in this population including disruptive behavior disorders, trauma-related disorders, learning disorders, intellectual and developmental disabilities, and other neurodivergent conditions, such as Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD).

Forensic Psychological Evaluations
Dr. Martin has experience conducting forensic evaluations in juvenile and adult criminal settings, including competency to stand trial, sanity, and juvenile waiver evaluations among others.

In our consultation services, Dr. Martin can provide her professional expertise to attorneys, judges, or news and print media for criminal cases and general mental health matters.
Speaking Engagements
Dr. Martin provides presentations and talks on mental health, doing so with various audiences in the past including medical & mental health professionals, attorneys and judges, and community groups.
